Requirements · Android TV or Google TV device running Android 8.0 or later.
Install and connect
- 1Buy a plan with your TVPN balance.
- 2In the dashboard, open Downloads and find the Android TV app.
- 3Open the link in a browser on the TV, or copy the file to a USB drive and open it with the TV's file manager.
- 4Allow installs from that source when the TV asks, then install TVPN.
- 5Open TVPN and sign in with your email and password using the on-screen keyboard.
- 6Select a server with the remote and press Connect.
What the TV app includes
The home screen shows your last location and a large connect button. The full server list is sorted by region and can be searched by voice if your remote has a microphone.
Split tunneling works here too. You can leave the TV's system apps on your regular connection and send only the apps you choose through TVPN.
Settings we suggest
Choose WireGuard. It uses less of the TV's processor than OpenVPN, which matters on cheaper streaming sticks.
Turn on connect at startup so the TV joins the VPN after a power cut or restart, without you opening the app each time.
Common problems
If the picture buffers more with the VPN on, pick a city closer to you or the one nearest the service you are watching. Wired Ethernet also helps more than any VPN setting.
Some TVs hide the option to install apps from outside the store. Look under Device Preferences, then Security and restrictions, or check the manual for your model.
