Requirements · A router with a built-in WireGuard client, such as OpenWrt, recent ASUS firmware or GL.iNet.
Install and connect
- 1Buy a plan with your TVPN balance.
- 2In the dashboard, open Downloads, choose Router, pick a server and create a WireGuard config file.
- 3Sign in to your router's admin page from a computer on the same network.
- 4Find the WireGuard client or VPN client section and import the config file, or paste its contents.
- 5Save and turn the connection on.
- 6On any device behind the router, open an IP check page and confirm it shows the server's country.
When a router setup makes sense
A router setup covers devices that cannot run a VPN app, such as game consoles, smart TVs and set-top boxes. It also keeps everything at home protected without installing anything on each device.
The downside is that switching location means loading a new config file on the router. If you change countries often, keep the apps on your phone and computer and use the router only for a fixed location.
Settings we suggest
Many routers can send only some devices through the VPN. On OpenWrt this is policy routing, on ASUS it is often called VPN Director, and on GL.iNet it sits in the VPN client options. Use it to keep a work laptop or console on your normal connection if needed.
Leave the DNS address from the config file in place so name lookups also go to TVPN. If the router has its own DNS rebind or parental control features, check that they do not override it.
Common problems
Speed through a router depends on its processor. Older or low-cost models may slow down noticeably with the VPN on, even though the same line is fast without it.
If the router shows the tunnel as up but devices cannot browse, check the router's clock and firmware version. WireGuard needs the correct time, and some older firmware handles the config file differently.
